Last week, we watched a movie called The Ron Clark movie, Mr. Clark takes a difficult group of kids and chances their lives. He has all these crazy rules and at first, the kids thing they are really pointless but, by the end of the movie, they change into this wonderful group of kids because they start following the rules. I think rules are important to follow because you see people or children that don't follow rules and you think how different life could be if you didn't follow rules.
Classrooms can become very out of control when you have a difficult group of kids. Rules help things not be so rough when it comes to controlling the environment of the classroom. When you have rules, the classroom runs better because the children are aware of there being conscious if they don't follow the rules.
When I see classrooms that do not follow rules, children just do what they want because they know they won't get in trouble and I think that is a very bad habit to have when you get older because you have to follow rules for a job or whatever you plan to do with your life so, if you don't have rules that you have to follow when you're younger, when you get older, it will be harder to start following rules because you aren't use to it.
Here below is a screenshot of my future classroom rules.
Ron Clark has an school called "The Ron Clark Academy". It is a non-profit middle school, housed in a renovated red brick warehouse located in southeast Atlanta, Georgia. If you would like to know more or learn more about his school, please click here.
